July 10, 1964: At Speke Airport in Liverpool.
Apart from works by Stuart Sutcliffe, this is the only known portrait of John Lennon by a fellow student at Liverpool College of Art. It shows Lennon in typical pose over the back of a chair in a college studio, wearing the glasses which were essential, given his chronic short sight. The artist, Anne Mason, was a classmate of John’s and a close friend of his wife-to-be, fellow student Cynthia Powell.
